Shopko Optical’s Response to COVID-19

The health and safety of our patients and staff remains our top priority during this time. After reviewing and evaluating guidance from the CDC and AOA as well as federal, state and local authorities, we have reopened our locations by appointment only for all eye care and eyewear needs including routine annual eye exams.

Per CDC guidelines, if any of the following apply to you, please reschedule your appointment for a later date:

  • You or someone in your home are experiencing any symptoms such as fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell, fatigue, headache, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting or diarrhea
  • You have been diagnosed with COVID-19
  • You are waiting for COVID-19 test results
  • You have had close contact with someone (within six feet) who has tested positive for COVID-19 or has any of the above flu-like symptoms
  • You recently traveled from somewhere outside the U.S. or on a cruise ship or river boat

Call your Shopko Optical location if you still have questions and we can help determine if you should come in. The Shopko Optical staff may be able to provide assistance over the phone and schedule a future appointment for you or your family.

Curbside pick up of glasses and contacts is available. Patients may also request to have eyewear mailed to their home.

Safety Protocols in Place:

Social Distancing

To adhere to social distancing guidelines, we ask that you arrive to your appointment by yourself, if possible. Otherwise limit any necessary companion to a parent, guardian or caretaker.

We will be limiting the patient schedule to reduce the number of staff and patients in the center at any given time. This will also provide our staff ample time to thoroughly clean after each patient visit.

If we cannot provide adequate social distancing, we may ask you to wait in your vehicle and we will contact you once we are ready.  Please be patient while we try to keep everyone safe and healthy.

Temperature Check Prior to Entering

Before entering, each patient and any companion, if applicable, will have their temperature taken with a touchless thermometer. In accordance with CDC guidelines, we will ask anyone who has a fever of 99.5 or higher to reschedule their appointment. Our staff and doctors will have their temperature taken prior to entering the center daily.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Masks will be worn by our doctors and staff members and the service counters will be equipped with sneeze guards as an additional safety barrier. Patients and any companion, if applicable, are asked to arrive with a face covering of their own.  If supplies allow, we may provide one to you and request that you wear it while in our center.

Cleaning of Equipment and Surfaces

Our team will continue the frequency of rigorous cleaning across highly trafficked areas such as the disinfection of optical equipment, instrumentation, eyeglass frames and all common surfaces.
